Tiers

The most important thing to know when you’re getting started building is construction parts work in layers and tiers so to speak. A lower tier (more foundational) part cannot be supported by a higher tier (more flimsy part), e.g. you can’t put a stone foundation on top of a wooden pillar.
Tier 1 — Can support the most
Tier 2 — Can support medium loads
Tier 3 — Can support the least

Tier 1

This tier includes your big meaty foundation pieces, including:
Stone Foundation
Small Stone Foundation
Stone Wall Foundation
Stone Stair Foundation
Triangular Stone Foundation

Tier 2

This tier includes parts that aren’t as beefy as full size foundation pieces, but can still support substantial loads.
Small Stone Wall
Small Stone Pillar
Half Timber and Cottage Walls
Wooden Floors, Beams, Pillars, and Posts

Tier 3

This tier can support the least, and includes:
Roofs
Railings
Ladders
Stairs
etc.
